VOLODENI

VOLODENI, sat, înjud. Bălţi, volostea Zăbriceni, la V. de satul Beşinăuţi. Are 80 case, cu o populaţie de 740 suflete, ţărani români, care posedă pământ de împroprietărire 699 desetine, Proprietarii, d-nii Solomon Mihail, are aci 794 desetine pământ, iar evreii Kizmai şi Bronstein au 200 desetine. Satul este locuit şi de opt familii de evrei, cari se ocupă de mica arendăşie.

The name Kismai in the 1904 text of Zamfir Arbore's Dictionar Geografic for VOLODENI was copied with a mistake. The true name is Risman. Alexander Sender Risman was my great grandfather, the father of the mother Hanna Sarah of my father Alexander Sender Meilichson, born in Volodeni in March 1907, sonn after his grandfather passed away. I will appreciate receiving any information available from archives about my family. I would like to visit Volodeni. Please help me establish some local contact.

Thank you for responding. My maternal family left the Podolia area (Khmelnitzki, Yarmolentsi in 1905 and my father left Moldova (Edinet, Volodeni) in 1929, to Argentina. I would like to know more of the history of my Volodeni family, before they moved there from Lipcani. Any information on how can I access archives in Volodeni witrh records of the XIX c will be much appreciated. I am a Mathematician living in Israel.
